MCCS sells uniform items online

10 May 2002 | Cpl. Kristopher S. Haloj Marine Corps Air Station Miramar-EMS

Marines in need of new uniform items often find themselves in a bit of a bind if they haven't the means or the time to get to the uniform shop.

In an effort to better accommodate those Marines, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) has opened an online uniform shop available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Online Uniform Store keeps a full stock of all enlisted men and women's uniforms and accessories, including footwear and fitness gear. Currently, the online store does not carry officer's uniforms, nor does it carry the new combat utility uniform.

According to Bryan Driver, public affairs specialist, MCCS, they are currently working on making officers' items available. As for the new combat utilities, he said they should be for sale on the site by October.

Once an order is placed in to the site it is processed immediately and the customer can expect delivery within seven to 10 business days.

Parties interested in shopping at the Online Uniform Store can visit the Web site at www.usmc-mccs.org/uniforms.

For more information concerning the site call the Uniform Support Center at 1-800-368-4088.

POLICY

The most important starting point for an EMS* is the development of an environmental policy. ISO14001 requires local governments to implement their own environmental policy. The environmental policy acts as a basis for the environmental management system.

PLANNING

ISO14001 requires that an environmental management system is planned properly. It requires the organization to consider the following carefully: Environmental Aspects; Legal and Other Aspects; Objectives and Targets; and an Environmental Management Program.

IMPLEMENTATION

The two requirements for implementation of an EMS is to define, document, and communicate roles, responsibilities and authorities, and to allocate the resources needed to implement and control the EMS.

CHECKING

The key requirement in this EMS step is to regularly monitor and measure key characteristics of activities and operations that could have a significant impact on the environment. Changes to EMS procedures may become necessary in order to deal with nonconformances with the EMS, with mitigating environmental impacts, or corrective and preventive action.

REVIEW

The management review process ensure that information is collected to enable management to carry out proper review. Top management review the need for changes to policy, objectives and targets, and ensure that a commitment to continual improvement is being demonstrated.
