Career Resource Center connects spouses, employers

Marine Corps Air Station Miramar’s Career Resource Center, located in The Hub, recently began a partnership with Adecco, a global Fortune

500 company, to establish a new program for connecting military spouses with jobs.

Every Tuesday representatives from Adecco operate a satellite office at the center from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. offering a free program called Career Connections.

Career Connections works   closely with military spouses to find temporary and direct-hire career opportunities nationwide or internationally, explained Amy Lander, the branch manager with Adecco.

When a spouse finds a job,  they may receive benefits such as: 401K, direct deposit, service bonus,       medical and dental coverage, tuition reimbursement and paid holidays.

The benefits follow spouses with them when they change locations and positions.

“Adecco offers more job opportunities for spouses,” said Bob Leeds, the Family Member Employment Assistance Program manager of the career resource center here.

“The idea is to provide extra income for families and give      spouses information about opportunities available to them,” said Leeds. “We are the only base that has this program.”

“This program helps provide a way to provide a long-term career no matter where families are stationed,” said Lander. “This program gives spouses the opportunity to get free training and tutorials and to take their career with them when they have to move.”

The program offers opportunities in anything from industry jobs to executive-level positions.

Adecco has seven offices in the San Diego area. For more information, contact the career resource center at 858-577-6491.

POLICY

The most important starting point for an EMS* is the development of an environmental policy. ISO14001 requires local governments to implement their own environmental policy. The environmental policy acts as a basis for the environmental management system.

PLANNING

ISO14001 requires that an environmental management system is planned properly. It requires the organization to consider the following carefully: Environmental Aspects; Legal and Other Aspects; Objectives and Targets; and an Environmental Management Program.

IMPLEMENTATION

The two requirements for implementation of an EMS is to define, document, and communicate roles, responsibilities and authorities, and to allocate the resources needed to implement and control the EMS.

CHECKING

The key requirement in this EMS step is to regularly monitor and measure key characteristics of activities and operations that could have a significant impact on the environment. Changes to EMS procedures may become necessary in order to deal with nonconformances with the EMS, with mitigating environmental impacts, or corrective and preventive action.

REVIEW

The management review process ensure that information is collected to enable management to carry out proper review. Top management review the need for changes to policy, objectives and targets, and ensure that a commitment to continual improvement is being demonstrated.
